BOOK BLOG #4 – NIGHTMARE HALL: THE WISH

by on Feb.25, 2011, under Uncategorized

Ayo.

Welcome to my fourth Book Blog!

This time, I’m taking a break from the Silverwing trilogy.

This book blog will be about “Nightmare Hall : The Wish” by Diane Hoh.

nightmarehallthewish

The Wish is a true mixture of horror, fantasy, wizardry, and a sprinkle of surprises are also added. I think Hoh did a magnificent job on writing The Wish. Every page gives you a chill down your spine, and each page is also a page closer to the terrifying ending.

Describe a part that surprised you.

I don’t know if I should tell you guys, ’cause it is a spoiler, and will be confusing if you didn’t read the book.

But here goes!

The most surprising part for me was near the end, when they reveal that the wizard statue isn’t really behind all of the traumas; it is actually Gabe, the innocent foot-ball player. This part really surprised me. ><.

Copy down a quote from a character and tell
why you think it’s meaningful.

“I don’t understand why you guys want to make a wish on this piece-a-junk,” -Courtney (main character).

The concept of this quote is that you don’t need to wish for anything, ’cause you’re perfect right now; which is why I think it’s a moral, and a meaningful quote.

Regarding Custom Headers

by on Feb.02, 2011, under Uncategorized

To all you guys, especially Cameron, I am really sorry the posts for your headers didn’t show up yet.

Especially you, Cameron, cause you’ve been wanting it for a while now, huh?

ROFL, well heres the story:

I finished Cameron’s, but my blog was screwed up, and the picture would show up in the Media Library, but not on my blog. I kept remaking it, and tried to put it on countless times to an extent that I decided to reformat my computer (which means deleting everything and restarting the computer).

It worked! And I will post his custom header, along with all of yours, a.s.a.p.

Current Header Requests:

Camerons [x]

Felicia [ ]

Roberto [x]

Yasmine [ ]

Cassie [ ]

Taylor [ ]

Nichelle [ ]

.. [X] means it is finished, and will be uploaded shortly.

BOOK BLOG #3 – SILVERWING by KENNETH OPPEL

by on Jan.31, 2011, under Uncategorized

Hola, bienvenidos a mi blog del libro tercero, esta vez voy a estar escribiendo sobre—

Wait, why am I typing in Spanish? Oh, well.

Hey! Welcome to my third book blog. This time I’m writing about Silverwing by Kenneth Oppel.

Silverwing is the first book of the Silverwing trilogy. It is about a family of bats entitled the ‘Silverwings’.

It’s winter, and they’re on their annual migration to Hibernaculum. The journey doesn’t go as expected when a tragic event occurs; Shade Silverwing – a newborn – is swept away by the storm to a human city. Follow Shade and the friends he meets on the most unique adventure.

I recommend this book 110% – I know, you can’t go higher than 100%, but I don’t give a whoop, the book is just that awesome! – because of its incredible dialogue and the way your brain just happens to picture it.

Read it! You won’t regret it.

BOOK BLOG #2: DARKWING by KENNETH OPPEL

by on Jan.24, 2011, under Uncategorized

In the Silverwing Sagas of the Bat Series by Kenneth Oppel, the stories revolve around the life of Shade Silverwing, a Silverwing colony bat who was always considered a ‘runt’ because of his incredibly miniscule build.  Shade is the protagonist of the first two books, Silverwing and Sunwing. There are three books in the Silverwing Saga, Silverwing, Sunwing, and Firewing. The Prehistoric Saga has only one book so far; Darkwing, the story takes place 65 million years before the events of the first book, Silverwing. In Darkwing, we read the story of prototype bats called Chiropters and different beasts in the war of the birds and the beasts. Dusk is a chiropter.

I really enjoyed this book because it tells the story about many creative and imaginative things. I think Oppel did a phenomenal job on including many ficitonal beasts, like the saurians (a type of prototypical pterodactyl), soricids (some prototypical mole specie) and the felids (a proto-canine).

I look forward to the next adventure of Dusk and Sylph!

I wonder what happened to the war of the Birds and Beasts? I think the birds won, because in the Silverwing Saga (65 million years after the Darkwing story) books ‘Silverwing’ and ‘Sunwing’, the owls; which are birds, are superior to the beasts, such as the bats.

I also wonder:

Did the diatryma die? My reason for asking this is because the Darkwing story told that the diatryma was the last of it’s specie, and that it needed food and that it’s leg was infected.

I hope Oppel writes more.

.. Read it!

.. Why are you still here!? The book blog is over!

.. Okay, now its over.

BOOK BLOG #1 – FIREWING by KENNETH OPPEL

BOOK BLOG #1 – FIREWING by KENNETH OPPEL .

FIREWING

In the Silverwing Sagas of the Bat Series by Kenneth Oppel, the stories revolve around the life of Shade Silverwing, a Silverwing colony bat who was always considered a ‘runt’ because of his incredibly miniscule build.  Shade is the protagonist of the first two books, Silverwing and Sunwing. In Firewing, the protagonist role moved on to Griffin Silverwing, the child of Shade..

..Back to the book blog!

Kenneth Oppel is my favorite author because of his interesting and unique ways of writing. In most if not all of his books, the story is switching from different perspectives of the characters, this means that the story switches from different points of views from the characters.

I think Oppel did a great job writing this book. A true mixture of fantasy and drama including heartfelt scenes as well. I personally enjoyed the ending; it was sad, yet really happy to know that Shade is now the home of his family. Don’t get what I’m saying? Then read the book yourself! It’ll be amazing, my word! No, seriously. It’s amazing..

.. Read it!

I’m a header-designer!

by on Jan.07, 2011, under Uncategorized

How are you guys doing? :]

A few days ago, Mme Horrell assigned us to customize our blogs by adding a theme and a header. I looked at a few headers from my fellow classmates and decided that they were good, but plain and simple. I decided to open my program my dad bought me last Christmas; a picture editing program called ‘Paint.NET’. I created an abstract picture for my header! Here’s the outcome:

My Header

Is it cool?

I also made one for Mme! Just to say thanks for being our teacher for 5 months.

So if you’d like one, just ask me at school, or by commenting!

Merry Christmas

by on Jan.07, 2011, under Uncategorized

.:TIGER:..:BLOG POST:..:CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS DAY 1!:.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Did you know that:

Shèngdàn jié kuàilè means Merry Christmas in Phonetic Chinese?

means Merry Christmas in Simplified Chinese?

This is a big deal for me because although my parents and relatives are Buddhist, I’m a Christian because I know more about Jesus Christ than I knew about Buddha and I feel and understand Jesus Christ much more.

Merry Christmas to all, and a happy new year.

.. this was uploaded really late :c because I had no internet access. Um, merry late christmas, I guess!
